Will Smith's Oscar Incident

 

Actor will smith sat down for his first tv interview since his infamous oscar nights lap of comedian chris rock, the academy award winner told the daily show's trevor noah that he understands how shocking that was for people here c.b.s. is carter. welcome back to the danny shrine, sir. after staying mostly out of the spotlight, says his oscars. but will smith opened up to trevor noah. 

you just never know what somebody's going through and i was going through something that night. you know, and, um, not that that, you know, justifies my behavior at all. he didn't say what he was going through, but he did allude to an abusive childhood because it was the little boy that watched his father beat up his mother. all of that just bubbled up. yeah yeah. and in in that moment, at the end of the day. i just i lost it after smith got home. oscar died. he said his nine year old nephew confronted him he's on my lap and he's holding the oscar. and he's just like. why did you hit that man uncle. well. do you think this interview helped the situation i think in the end it it set the kind of public note that will smith probably wanted n.p.r. media.

Analyst Eric Deggans is skeptical about the timing of the interview with smith's upcoming film emancipation. we heard a lot about will smith's remorse. we did not hear very much about what chris rock is going through. there's a victim here and the victim is not will smith smith previously apologized to rock in a video posted late july, but critics say he needed to do more. there's a sense that he is being sort of coddled through all of this this redemption tour that he's on, which means it's not much of a redemption. and there's no public comment yet from chris rock, who made the joke about smith's wife jada on stage and there is some oscar buzz surrounding smith's new film, though of course. the academies banned him from attending the ceremonies for ten years carter evans, thank you. 

Recent economic updates of China - protests against lockdown

Chinese officials have defended their seriocomic policy despite the growing public backlash. They've become a symbol of the biggest threat yet to China's leadership. This rally just one of dozens that have spread across China. Just before few hours, large number of crowds turned out in main city in a rare defiance of Chinese authorities. Years of pandemic lockdowns have pushed people here to their limit.

Series of protests are growing in China over the country's due to COVID-⁠19 measures. Fresh protests have broken out in major cities, with hundreds rallying at Beijing's elite Tin Hua University chanting, we want freedom. Many also holding up blank sheets of. Paper in a symbolic protest against state senators, the ship. More issues have also been started in in main city following clashes with police overnight. Public offence arising after a deadly apartment block fire, with many blaming an ongoing lockdown for hampering rescue efforts. 

 Hundreds facedown police and called on President Xi Jinping to step down. Many in the crowd do not to hide their identities despite potentially severe effects against them for their disobedience. Scuffles eventually broke out with officers warning the crowds to move back. As police reinforcements arrived, a woman can be heard yelling, you are employees. You have food to eat and money to make. What about us? It's been three years. Saturday's, protest came to a head following a candlelit vigil for the victims of an apartment fire that's shaken the country. 

At least ten died in the blaze. Which broke out on Thursday. In the northwestern city of Urum Chi. Many have blamed the deaths on lockdown restrictions, which they say hampered rescue efforts. With some locals banned from leaving their homes for over three months, urumqi residents are now also rising up here, they chant lift the COVID lockdown. The tension with officials boils over as protesters break through offense. The protests come just weeks after Xi Jinping was reappointed as the country's leader for an unprecedented third term. His covert restrictions are some of the harshest globally, with officials sticking to a zero COVID policy while much of the rest of the world tries to coexist with the virus. But despite the public backlash, xi shows no signs of backing down. And we can talk now to correspondent Fabian Creschma who is in Beijing. Fabian, first of all, what more can you tell us about the situation there?  basically seeing the biggest protests in China since at least the 1990s. It's really remarkable. In the night from Saturday to Sunday, several hundreds of young people in Shanghai gathered. They did not only voice their criticism against the zero COVID policy, but also against Xi Jinping's rule. They were shouting down with Xi Jinping, down with the party. I mean, that's really unheard of. 

And you have protests in basically all of the country. I'll give you one noticeable example. Here in Beijing, at the really very prestigious Qinghai University, also several hundred, maybe even more than 1000 students are gathering, also shouting slogans, demanding freedom. And they are very courageous is they are basically for the first time speaking up. And that comes really at a great risk. I mean, the Chinese government is known to have a very low tolerance for criticism. 

What does it tell us that so many are willing to defy the regime, to be courageous, as you just said? Yeah, many have had enough. They feel also like they have nothing to lose. I would say they are different motifs, especially, let's say, migrant workers. For them, the lockdowns are an existential economic threat. So really, they have nothing to lose. For the students, for example, at Cinco University, for them, I'm sure it's a moral obligation. They want to show solidarity because on Thursday night there was a fire in Urbancic in Xinjiang. 

Ten people died, and many people in China believe those deaths could have been prevented. They were basically a side effect of those very excessive lockdowns. And it's not the first time that people had to die because of those lockdowns. Basically, every day on social media, you see people desperate, suicidal, jumping from the roof because they've been for weeks, sometimes months, locked down in their home. So, they had the feeling, now it's too much. 

Black Panther Film Review and Spoiler

The film starts by explaining how a meteorite made from vibranium, believed to be a present from the Panther god, Bast, crashed into Wakanda. The meteorite mutated a plant known as the heart-formed herb, which changed into ingested via way of means of one of the warriors and gave him superpowers. He turns into the primary Black Panther and is a notable uniter of all of the tribes in Wakanda besides for one, the Jabari, who stay withinside the mountains.

To keep away from sharing assets or statistics with different countries, Wakanda disguises itself as a terrible country, hiding that they’ve constructed a sprawling metropolis.  A flashback to 1992 suggests King T’Chaka travelling his brother N’Jobu in Oakland, Calif., who's undercover. T’Chaka accuses him of supporting Ulysses Klaue, a black marketplace hands dealer, with stealing vibranium from Wakanda. N’Jobu’s right-hand guy had lied to him and discovered himself to be a Wakandan named Zuri.

 

The film opens with the long take of Sheri basically trying to synthesize an artificial recreation of the herb to try and save to Cha's life. We don't know until later that he was suffering from an unknown illness that he kept from those around him. So the stories basically a direct depiction of what Chadwick Bozeman went through in his real life. He had cancer and only his wife and close once and knew about it. Nobody from Marble, not even Kevin Fagan knew about this. And it's the same perella.

People around him didn't know that the king was fighting a battle of his own with no return. And I know a lot of people are complaining about this plot. Why wouldn't Wakanda be able to cure cancer? A country is so rich with resources. Well, they do address this in the movie. Shri tries very hard to say Te Chala in the beginning of the film, but her success rate is only 28%. Multiple other scientists at Wakanda actually try to convince Shri that maybe she should just go be with them for his final moments, but she resists. And when she does come up with something, it's too late and the king has already left us. And this is basically how the movie starts. So right from the get go, this is even more tragic than a Bensen game, which took only 19 minutes to give us something to cheer for.

 

But this film, my Goodness, is tragedy at its core. Then we have a one year time jump, and that's when the story begins to move forward. Now, in this one year period, Sheri has become obsessed with innovating technology because the loss of her brother, the fact that she being the genius that she is couldn't save Ella is igniting the worst possible guilt inside her. While on the other hand, Queen Ramonda is facing international pressure to share vibranium with the rest of the world, which is something she says they will never do because the evils they're capable of. And we see this in the trailers too. This is also demonstrated by France essentially trying to steal vibranium from a Wakanda research site. Now, Lake Bell's character has a ship that is located vibranium deep beneath the ocean. And after it is confirmed, they're attacked by Namer and his people.

 

Naor kills everyone aboard and it results in everyone in the know believing it was done by Wakas. So this puts Queen Ramonda in an even worse position in the eyes of the US government. Queen Ramonda then Mourns Tela by going to a beach where Ramonda wants to perform a ceremony of burning their funeral attire. Thus symbolizing, they're coming to terms with the passing of Tela. Cherri refuses saying that if she thinks about her brother for too long, it will be the world that burns and not her clothes. Ramonda tells her when ti Chala died, she walked as far away as she could until she reached water and sat and thought of him. And in that moment, she felt him next to her with his hand on her shoulder. But Sheri again rejects this saying that's a construct of her mind. And Ti Chala is truly gone.

So Sheri is clearly in denial and is trying her best not to think of ti Chala too much. She's trying to dodge the tragedy as a mean to get over it. Now, fast forward to halfway through the film where Shri gets taken to telecom and there she remains as a hostage. Now I won't tell you why or how because for the post credit scene, you don't need to know that. So Rescue Shri Ramonda finds in Akia who's running a school in Haiti and has been since the blip and begs her to find Shri. Naia reluctantly agrees and began searching for the leads to where telecom is. Now, this is as much as I'll tell you about the movie. Now that you have enough context, the movie ends with Chewy in Haiti, goes to NAIAs home to perform the ceremony of burning her funeral attire. So towards the end of the film, she has now come to terms with Ella's death and is now ready to perform the ceremony.

 

She once rejected, but she first sits alone on the beach and begins to remember Ella and cries, and then she finally burns her clothes and that's where the movie ends and that's where the meat credit scene picks up. It's moments after Shri burns her clothes, Naia approaches and reveals her son, who is about five years old. Naia reveals that she had him before the blip, and Te Chala is the father. And Naia and Ti Chala both agreed on their child to be raised away from the pressures of being a king. Now, while initially shocked, Shri has a very emotional response and begins bonding with them, happy to have a family again. Because remember, Queen Ramonda dies in the film while trying to protect Riri Williams. The meat credit scene then ends with his child revealing his Wakanda name is also Ti Chala. So Naia named her son after his father.

 

Now, my theory is that he was named to Ibu to his father because Nokia thought he was dead due to bleeping, not because of a disease, Sheri in Christ, but also smiles with Nokia. Let me just say, it's a fairly long scene and there's no edge of, Oh look, there's a new Black Panther. It's truly treated as an emotional end for the film. Now this was really emotional for me as well because Marble obviously wants to continue to tell a story, but they also don't wanna recast Week Boman, who quite practically made the character popular in mainstream cinema. So Marvel is essentially recasting Tela, but in a more respectful manner. So in Black Panther, three, Nokia will essentially become her own queen. Ramonda and Ella Sr, becoming his own Te Chaka. And Shri would fulfill the same role as before, but now as Aunt Shri instead of a sister, it's the best compromise for honoring Chadwick and Mac Te Chala, the one and true Black Panther forever as he should be.

 

Now, if Teich Cha's son becomes the new Te Chala or Te Chala Jr and continues his father's intended arc, it basically makes them the same character. But with respect to Chadwick, and by the time Avenger's Secret Wars comes out, Teich Chala Jr. Will be the adult Black Panther due to time travel and whatnot. So he will essentially continue his father to Cha's intended arc. And don't worry, this movie doesn't have any studio agenda or anything. Shri doesn't become a better fighter overnight than Naor just because she's a Black Panther. Now the movie had a very fine balance to it. Shri does defeat by the end, but she does so use her intelligence and brain, not only physical force because Sheri isn't a trained soldier, she's a scientist, but Naor is a true warrior, a king. So they do make the ending land quite nicely where Naer remains on top physically.

 

But Sheri gets to better of him using her skills. And that's it. This will be my breakdown of the mid credit scene of Wakanda forever. Let me know your thoughts on this and what he would've done in a situation like this. But as far as I'm concerned, I really do feel this is one of the best ways to recast each other to continue his arc while at the same time showing incredible respect for Chadwick.
